Discografia Warlock

 

Warlock era uma banda alemã de heavy metal, fundada em 1982 com membros das bandas underground Snakebite and Beast.

 A banda ganhou popularidade e algum sucesso comercial na Europa em meados da década de 1980, devido também à personalidade e presença de palco do vocalista Doro Pesch. 

Warlock apoiado em turnês bem sucedidas de bandas de heavy metal, como W.A.S.P., Judas Priest, Dio e Megadeth.

No final da década, Doro Pesch foi o único membro original que permaneceu na banda e ela foi forçada a mudar o nome para Doro por razões legais, neste caso o nome Warlock pertencia ao empresario.  Doro, a banda, continua a tocar várias músicas tiradas do repertório de Warlock em seus shows ao vivo.

A banda se reuniu para apresentações em festivais e ocasiões especiais desde 2003, sob o nome de Warlock 

Warlock foi uma das poucas bandas de heavy metal de sucesso no circuito durante os anos 80, quando a cena era dominada por cantores machistas. A voz de Doro Pesch e a presença no palco chamaram imediatamente a atenção dos fãs e da imprensa e ela se tornou o principal meio de promoção para a banda, assim como o principal porta-voz de Warlock. 

A música de Warlock é sempre descrita principalmente como heavy metal,  e a banda cita como principais influências os atos de metal dos anos 70 como Judas Priest, Scorpions, Accept,  e grupos da nova onda do movimento britânico de heavy metal.

O som e as composições de Warlock evoluíram do heavy metal tradicional de seu álbum de estréia, Burning the Witches, para o Hellbound mais rápido e mais sombrio, que incorpora elementos de power metal, como andamentos rápidos, refrões poderosos e letras inspiradas em fantasia. True como Steel é um álbum mais comercial, onde qualquer referência à fantasia e ao ocultismo nas letras foi abandonada. Triumph and Agony recupera elementos dos primeiros álbuns, mas também segue para um som melódico e de rádio FM, influenciado pela produção dos EUA. Outras bandas que tiveram um som similar incluem Keel, o Judas Priest dos anos 80 e Lizzy Borden.

Baladas de poder também eram características do Warlock e estão presentes nas listas de faixas de todos os álbuns.
